    OpenWRT on V3A

For those confident with soldering a serial port on a v3a (smallest pads you've ever worked with), then I've just uploaded a set of patches and binaries for v3a.
    See http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/bt/homehub.3.0 for serial connection
    See Sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/hh2...12-04-16-v3a/? for zips.
Remember to backup you hub flash, and don't play unless you can afford to lose your router!
Please report ADSL results. If you have infinity, then you'll need to work out how to use pppoe and vlans.

This is delivered with thanks and credit to Tormal for serial connections and most of the OpenWRT work, and amongst others the Lantiq team at OpenWRT for it just working out of the box.

    Hi Simon,

Have successfully modified my HH3A and flashed the binary image. So far though I haven't been able to get the adsl link to come up. I'm using the same annex a fwannex a as works on my HH2B, the dsl_control script shows that the dsl chip stays in state 0x0

Line State: DOWN [0x0: not initialized]

Will investigate further. Wi-Fi works but not tested out all the switch ports.

OK, found the adsl problem, the bin image contains no dsl firmware...

Have you made any progress getting adsl working?

Yes, I rebuilt the image using the providing patch and config files adding in the dsl firmware and the HH3A has been running without a glitch for several days now. WiFi, Ethernet and ADSL are all fine.

Good news. I can't wait to try it.

I was also hoping for an updated binary but it doesn't appear that an update has been made available yet.

I haven't gotten around to building the source but Ric's fix is likely to be as simple as using 'make menuconfig' to include the adsl firmware.

Was hoping for a Firmware Update file as i can't solder for the life of me so there for JTAG is out of question for me but i would love to use OpenWRT as it has better control and QOS then cruddy BT System.

I am fully unlocked and SSH enabled but i don't think that will cut it.

If its working stable and there is a way to do it without JTAG let me know.

I setup a VM to build the firmware and I also did Ric's hint of enabling the appropriate firmware using make menuconfig (Kernel modules -> Network Devices -> kmod-ltq-dsl-firmware-a-ar9). I flashed it but the ADSL didn't work properly with the default username and password of 'foo' and 'bar' so I did a search and tried 'bthomehub@btbroadband.com' and 'BT' which I set in /etc/config/network and it worked.

I have no idea how much development is going on but I would think it should be possible in the future to flash without using a serial console.

I wasn't confident about being able to solder wires to the tiny pads but with a 10x magnifying glass it became more likely that I would succeed and I also used kapton tape to tape each wire in place so that the tip of the wire was directly over the appropriate pad. It was a simple case of using the magnifying glass to press the wire onto the pad and after a few attempts it worked. I did make a mistake as there is a pad which doesn't have any solder on it and it was impossible for me to get solder on this pad and I ended up bridging two nearby pads but I had been advised to use flux gel and thankfully it made it possible to easily clean up my mistake and I switched to using a different pad which already had solder on it.
