Karoo (Kingston Communications)
Has anybody used an unlocked 2A Hub with Karoo's ADSL offering out there (OK, not very far out there). I had a hub sat around doing nothing after a years use in my daughters flat in Edinburgh - broadband not included had to sort it themselves! It worked very well for them for the year and BT didn't want it back at the end. The instructions and files for the 2-stick unlock have been followed to the letter - everything popping up on the telnet window as it should. I can change the username and security settings, BUT Karoo uses 1/50 for Vpi/Vci NOT 0/38 like everyone else in the world (i.e. anyone outside Hull and Beverly) also PPPoA/LLC encapsulation and G.DMT modulation. I can't see how to change this from the ie window at 192.168.1.254?
Would appreciate suggestions as usually on previous routers I have used all these can be selected - I thought that the unlock would allow me to change these?

Hopefully an easy one
Download the user.ini to your pc
open it with a text editor
search for these lines
[ phone.ini ]
add name=pvc_Internet addr=0*38
and change to
[ phone.ini ]
add name=pvc_Internet addr=1*50
then these lines
[ atm.ini ]
ifadd intf=atm_Internet
ifconfig intf=atm_Internet dest=pvc_Internet encaps=vcmux ulp=ppp
and change to
[ atm.ini ]
ifadd intf=atm_Internet
ifconfig intf=atm_Internet dest=pvc_Internet encaps=llc ulp=ppp
upload the user.iniback tothe hh and reboot it.
G.DMT modulation is just ADSL not ADSL2 or ADSL2+ so it should autodetect that no problem at all.

Many Thanks - that has done the trick - using it now! My old router had lost the ability to assign IP addresses despite running it for the last six months with the case off to keep its cool! Just reassigning everything back to automatic dhcp now - the big test will be in the morning when my son fires up his PS3 - connection speeds looked OK but I'm sure there will be a port somewhere not quite set correctly. I do find the cut down menu frustrating - but I can see quite a few things are set up in that ini file so will look there first. I like to limit the IP range the unit can assign so that e.g. printer, nas drive can have fixed IPs that any machine can get at - not tried all that yet. Many Thanks again - just noticed the time you responded at - I thought I was a late bird.
On a different topic entirely, is there a setting that will put the original query at the top and replies going underneath - I find it hard to work with the newer stuff above, logical though it may be!

top right next to log out click on the settings, then general settings on the left hand side then scrool down to thread display options, change from linear newest first to linear oldest first
