    Wireless issues after unlock

Have just done the software unlock on an old 2.0A from my dad. Forgot to check how well it worked before doing the hack but after the wireless has some major problems.

The symptoms are the wireless does not respond to changes in the web interface and only gets it act together after a reboot. When it does work, the speed drops until its next to nothing (1Mb/s).

Is this a problem with the config or, as I suspect, a hardware issue and I might as well junk it

Use the recessed reset button on the side of the router to reset it to defaults, then set it up again for your ADSL connection / wireless etc.
Is that doesn't work the earlier version of the 2A had a removeable wifi card. Sometimes popping the router open and reseating the wifi card (pop it out and put it back in) can cure random wifi problems.

Had not tried the reset but had reseated the card.

Have now tried the reset - get about 30 seconds then the wireless starts dropping out and finally give up the ghost - watched it on the wifi analyser on my android phone

Think the wifi is dead - come to think about it I think thats why my dad moved on to something else.

Will try and resolder the JTAG on my 2.0A rev 2 and see if I can get in that way. All this to not spend money to protect the children (and I hate being defeated)

Ah I take it your rev 2 died during a reflash then?

No - the rev 2 is working on

8.1.H.U. I am assuming from what I have read that the only way of opening this up is using JTAG.

Had a mate solder the cable on but I think the contacts were a bit dodgy as it never connects correctly. Will get him to redo it with thinner cable this time

    Ah! Yes sadly.
All my attempts at downgrading the firmware emd up in a buffer overflow and a reboot on the 2A.
JTAG only at the moment sadly.
