Assuming you have unlocked your homehub, and changed the VOIP provider, you'll see that plugging the phone into the back can be tedious, especially if you want to have more than one phone outlet around the house.

Here's how you do it

Unlike many VOIP devices, the Homehub is the oddest of the lot. Since it uses ONE BT Standard jack, has a line passthrough via the broadband socket, and has the Master socket circuitry built in to generate a ring which omits the need for a RJ11 to BT Adaptor filter. Because of this we need to do things differently.

parts needed
==========
1x telephone extension cable ox X meters (3, 5, 10, or 20) -OR- bare cables a BT plug and a crimp tool (advanced users)
1x EXTENSION WALL PLATE (this IS important DO NOT GET A MASTER WALL PLATE EVEN IF ADVISED TO DO SO (B&Q like to get involved etc etc))
1x Insertion tool

Get double/triple the parts for as many sockets as you need (upto 3)

How To
======

1. with your extension cable chop the socket off the end, and trim back the wires
2. you should be left with 4 wires (usually) with either the correct colour code from BT (Blue w/white, white w/blue, orange w/white and white w/orange), or old standard/extension standard (black, green, red, and yellow/orange)
3. On your extension wall plate there will be six terminals 1-3 on the left and 4-6 on the right. you will need terminals 2 and 5.
4. take the red wire (or blue with white) position it over terminal 2 and use the insertion tool to push it down into the terminal. it should be a tight fit.
5. do the same with the green wire (or white with blue) into terminal 5.
6. plug your BT plug into the hub, and a phone into your new wall plate and test it. If you hear a dial tone try calling someone or the sipgate test number 10000. if ok proceeed on.
7. now get someone to call your hub. Check to see if your phone rings (it should do), if ok then you have done it.
8. now position and fix your wallplate onto the wall where you want it.
9. to add another simply use bare ended wires and connect terminal 2 from wallplate 1 to terminal 2 on wallplates 2 and 3 etc etc.

problems
=======

if you find you can't make a call, or it doesn't ring, DOUBLE CHECK your terminals 2 and 5. Also try swapping them over, some wall plates operate differently and some phones want reverse polarity.

Customizing
=========

you can customize your wall plate with a sticker like sipgate's logo etc etc.

Hope this helps.
