Telnet does not connect 4.7.5.1.83.3.17 (Type B)
Hi,
I have downgraded the firmware to 4.7.5.1.83.3.17 and it is clearly seen on main page. I tried with Kitty and can connect to the ssh_cli and then to BT HOME HUB 2.0B>, but not through telent as it say "cannot connect to port 23".
I have done this after following the instructions on this site. I have not tried with another ISP yet.
If I have missed anything, Please correct me if I have done it wrong.
So the help I need is that;
1 how to connect through telnet.
2 where i can get the instructions or manual that help me to understand shell commands and how to execute them.
I am interested mostly in knowing how to work through telnet and then do the configuration of the router using cli.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Regards.

dear nad,
telnet is not operative; that is, there is no way to keep telnet on the device, you must use the ssh connection once it's enabled.
For the CLI command set, type help, and then for the list presented, help <command>, and read the relevant posts on this site for what you are trying to do.
You *can* get to a linux prompt, via the command 'system shell'. This does not achieve an awful lot though apart from letting you look at the linux bit. since so far the only permanent config seems to be the rg config, nothing done in the linux command prompt persists.

Dear Simon.
First thanks for your helpful reply.
As I wrote earlier that I can access the ssh through KiTTY. It is the telnet terminal where I am trying to get access to the router but the reply is "could not open connection to the host on port 23 connect failed".
I need help to resolve this issue.
For commands, I think, I am OK for now.
Regards
nad

The ssh console will give you the CLI commands if you want root access you will need to follow the guide to hacking it and use the telnet from the usb drive.
