Using WDS on HH 2A to connect OLD XBOX (not 360) to wireless network

Okay. I've soft-modded my HH 2A, and added my UNENCRYPTED WiFi network to the WDS list, using telnet. It is in the list, and "saveall" entered, etc. I want to enable my HH 2A to connect to my MAIN router, via WDS (as it does now) and pass that internet connection through ETHERNET, to my First gen XBOX.

How do I do this, please? I understand this to be called a "WIRELESS BRIDGE"?

Here is a diagram of what I need

    [MAIN ROUTER]======>>WIFI>>====[HH 2A conn via WDS]------>>ETHERNET>>----[XBOX]

    Thanks

not sure on how far you have got

can the hh see the other router

you will proberly need to change the default gateway on the router and a couple of other things

That doesn't offer much help, but thanks.

I'd be more help if you could give us more detail of what you have and haven't done/tried and what successes or failures you've had then we might be able to work out what isn't working right

I've turned ALL encryption off on my main router (NOT a home hub), done the whole WDS scanning, adding and "saveall" routine on a softmodded 2A. Not working. I need to connect my ORIGINAL Xbox to the slave HH via ethernet.

There are SO many things that are missed out of "tutorials" on this device.

1/ Do you turn DHCP *off* on the slave?
2/ Do you set the same channel No on the slave, as the master?
3/ Does the name of the channel SSID you add in WDS menu, have to match the master SSID?
4/ Must you restart all the routers, after adding the master in WDS?
5/ Does the master router (NOT necessarily a BT Home Hub) *have* to support WDS?
6/ Anything that is NOT explained in tutorials, because people think "oh, they don't need to know that" - yes, we do.

    Thank you

Yes turn off dhcp it should forward it from the main hub.

    Same channel same SSID

restart them both annd they must both support WDS

You might have to use wep as I think the HH requires it for WDS to work right.

Please read: The main router IS NOT a Home hub (I did say that). Will this still work?

    Thank you

if it supports WDS then it SHOULD work however there is the BT factor involved.

The HH might be stubburn and decide it doesn't want to work with anything other than another HH. I do know WPA doesn't work on WDS with them it has to be WEP or possibly no encryption.
