Disabling ADSL Modem Functionality - Use as phone only.

    Hey Guys and Girls,

It's great to see that it is possible to softmod the HH2 without going down that JTAG route.

However, I already have a nice DrayTek modem and router for my O2 broadband.

I only want to use the phone part of the homehub, but that means it has to be connected to the phone line. That means it tries to connect to an ISP and interferes with my DrayTek modem.

I know the homehub has a RJ11 socket on the back, so I use a BT431A (phone socket) to J11 cable on the PHONE side of an ADSL filter, and still it interferes with my other modem, usually stopping it from connecting if the power go.

    Any ideas?

From what I've read it sounds like the new OpenReach vDSL faceplates filter both ways (ie. the RJ11 is filtered from the voice socket and vice versa, rather than just having the broadband filtered from the voice as with ADSL filters). May solve your problem?

Caveat emptor: I haven't got one of these and have never tried this.

I guess the microfilter isn't powerful enough to filter a strong ADSL signal on the phone side of the fillter. Maybe string 2 or 3 of them together on the phone side? I'm afraid my understanding of high / low pass filters is very limited.

there really must be a way of turning off the ADSL modem in such a way that it no longer interferes with the phone line.
If someone has a 'scope, then it would be worth having a poke around - since the 2A is modifiable at the OS level, (i.e. we've arranged for the ability to run scripts at startup, etc.), then if it's possible, we can probably make it permanent. I'd also be very interested in this, as I use a 2A at the moment and have moved to using the hub phones as normal DECT phones, but being with BT, I'd like to move to my shiny new V3 for broadband.
I would also guess that it may be possible that some tracks could be cut as a very permanent mod I know Psi is good with hardware; maybe he has a view?
