Is it possible to get old firmware eg .....3.5? I want to reflash back to an early version.
There have been comments about difficulties with getting the HH2B to upgrade. Yesterday I tried mine (unlocked ...3.5) on Zen but using for the first time the default BT HH ntc time server (instead of another I usually use). Shortly after connection it did an upgrade. Now I do not believe they can scan all (even UK) ip addresses that quickly so how did they get to mine so soon? Surely it must be due to the use of the BT time server.
I would like to test this out.
Peter.
The firmwares we have were found initially by fishing about on bt's update site. I managed to get 3.17 and 3.18, which was what we needed to downgrade and unlock. 3.5 I have not found sorry.
Also, it's the router that requests the upgrade and it's done via ACS. For an explaination of ACS have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TR-069
The home hub is designed to check at least once a day for updates. Yes it can be hit and miss wether the hub updates or not which I guess is down to bt's acs server load and the server itself refusing to push the update if load is high.

Thanks for that, since I did not find anything to the contrary I thought that as suggested in the post #20 in
http://www.psidoc.com/showthread.php/309-unable-to-access-the-SYS-folder
the HH itself did not seek updates. Clearly I misunderstood the mechanism.
The old firmware does not matter. In fact I have now updated it to ...3.31 as I have a Linux machine (as well as an XP and a Chromebook).
I may not have had cwmp/enabled set to 0 on this occasion as I have been experimenting with different configurations to try and get my Gigaset dual SIP/PSTN dect system to work properly through the hub. It will work if it uses DCHP but not when the ip is fixed which I much prefer to allow easy local access. I will probably have to try various port forwarding settings but I do find this quite a pain to program on the HH.
The Gigaset is a real dreamto setup and use, and so do not want to use the BT HH telephony.
I have been able to follow your clear instructions without any problems except as reported elsewhere. I also unlocked a second one for a friend.
If any one wants it, I have suitable 16MB ext3 disk image. That was the size of an old sd card I had spare. I used for unlocking in an sd/usb adaptor.
I found an easy way to get Samba to reconfigure was to use a cable connection and unplug/replug the cable. Much easier than when using wireless.

Is this of interest?
I enabled cwmp/enabled and almost immediately password error messages below arrived when BT tried to update.
I have version ...3.31 firmware.

I'm new to the BT home hub unlocking but have successfully unlocked a couple of 2B hubs. Can one of the experts advise if its neccesary to prevent future updates. I see references to cwmp/enabled in this thread and hope that this may be the flag to accept/refuse updates. Can I set this to stop updates?
thanks.
PS I found the Win32DiskImager USB writer works ok on Windows 7 as a substitute for DiskImage_1_6_WinAll (which crashes with error code #5)
