Hi all,

Okay i will cut to the chase i am a total noob on this subject, i have all the tools needed, am good with the soldering and have made the jtag cable, identified the soldering points, attached the cable, i am good to go.

i have 2 v1.5 HH and 1 v2a HH, so i intend to learn on one of the v 1.5 HH, cable is attached and i have followed the instructions to the point that i confirmed that the cable is good, created 2 backups compared them with success, flashed the CFE although the brjtag brjtag typo got me for a while. i have read and understand everything that is required so far and have had no issue's with any of it.

now for the Noob bit, when i get to the point of loading the new firmware, it all goes to rat shit, i read a comment somewhere that said if you do not know how to do this then i suggest you do some reading. well trust me i have.

To go through what i have tried would take a week, suffice to say i have no idea how to get the new firmware on to the router, no communication with the router???

now please don't flame me for having the balls to admit my stupidity, the way i see it is if its broken then it goes in the bin its my HH not BT's and i want it to work my way not there's could someone please advise on the only step i cant do getting the damn new firmware on to this HH.

Regards

We don't flame. We help anyone that has the bravery to open their router and flash it via JTAG. I will also say this. we have never lost one yet!

Installiing a new firmware is done via an ethernet cable.
You need to set a fixed IP address on your PC wired connection first. See here:
http://www.psidoc...ticle_id=6
With the router powered off and the ethernet cable plugged in to the PC and the router hold the wireless button down and plug in the power. HOLD THE WIRELESS BUTTON till you only have 1 light on (10 - 15 seconds).
You are now in kernel mode.
Now you can flash in the normal way and have 1 minute to initialise the flash procedure.

Just noticed my remarks above from my post are missing. I successfully flashed a Hub 2. I then went and got a V1.5 out of the attic and had a go at flashing that. The V1.5 is easier to solder the jtag connections but it seems more complex in flashing. You need to do the first bit with the jtag connection, then disconnect and programme using the ethernet connection between PC and V1.5. Using the UpgadeST in the Flash folder. The problem I had was getting the programme to run within the minute of pressing the button on the v1.5 to put it in kernal mode. It took me about 5 goes before I successfully started to download the file.
When done you have to go through a set up procedure to configure the V1.5 which is now a Thomson ST for use on the internet. I managed to do it. I could not figure how to connect a 1010 phone to the unit, maybe someone maybe able to explain. I have now put the unit back in the attic. The V2 stays as a BT unit and after logging on automatically selects your broadband connection.

The TG797n firmware will be made available to new donators once it has been received & tested by the original donators.. so "yes" Watch this space!

21/08/2010 19:35
do you need anymore for the tg797n fund?

19/08/2010 18:47
Probably, but you'll have to work out the command line structure for the software for your USB JTAG
