I have the BT Home Hub 2 all flashed and unlocked. My ISP is O2 but I am unsure how to define the settings required for this broadband provider. I need to enter VPI and VCI values etc but cannot find how to input them. There is no obvious place in the web based GUI and after messing around with Telnet I am still drawing a blank (possibly I'm not looking in the right place. Can anyone help?
Firstly. Sorry for not replying till now. Have been away from home with work.
Ok I have a solution for you. It's a bit of mucking about but it does work.
Download and install Core FtpLITE to your PC. Well use this FTP program as it works. However if you have your own that will upload to the router then ignore this setp.
Reset the router to defaults.
Telnet in on 192.168.1.254 username: guru password: guru
Then issue the following command:
Code
saveall
Now FTP in on 192.168.1.254 same username and password as above.
Find the user.ini file and download it to your PC.
Open the user.ini file and edit the following.
In the env.ini section:
Code
set var=CONF_SERVICE value="Routed PPPoA on 0.38"
Change to:
set var=CONF_SERVICE value="Routed PPPoA on 0.103"
In the phone.ini section:
Code
add name=pvc_Internet addr=0*38
Change to:
add name=pvc_Internet addr=0*103
Now save the file
Back in the ftp program upload the user.ini file back to the router, overwriting the old one.
Power cycle the router.
Viola!
Basically what we have done above is manually edited the user settings (user.ini) offline to get the changes you need.
The saveall command creates the user.ini
Then we ftp it out to bypass the encryption that BT put in when backing up the configuration.
Editing is the simple bit!
FTPing back the user.ini bypasses the router expecting an encrypted file.
That will survive powering off, but will NOT survive a reset to defaults.
Beginner? Nah! You managed to reflash the home hub which is the biggest step of all so fair play to you.
Also you're the first person we know of that has an LLU connection and wants to use a Home Hub on it, so it'd be good to get this working as it's more info to add to the site.
Anyway to business.
Just found this which should be a great help: http://www.o2user...dband.html
The part we are interested in is this:
* ISP name: O2 Home Broadband
* Multiplexing method: LLC-Based
* VPI: 0
* VCI: 101
* Username: leave blank
* Password: leave blank
* Domain name: leave blank
* IP address type: this depends on whether you chose our static IP address option or not:
* - If you didn’t choose O2's static IP address option, set this to dynamic IP
* - If you did choose O2's static IP address, enter the IP address printed in your welcome letter
* DNS servers: choose to get these dynamically from the Internet provider
* NAT: enable
Looks like I goofed on the VCI - sorry.
The changes you need to make are:
Code
Env.ini:
set var=CONF_SERVICE value="Routed PPPoA on 0.38"
Change to:
set var=CONF_SERVICE value="Routed PPPoA on 0.101"
Phone.ini:
add name=pvc_Internet addr=0*38
Change to:
add name=pvc_Internet addr=0*101
Reading on the scream forum someone did manage to get a version 1 Home Hub working on O2 LLU just changing the VCI to 101 without the atm_Internet line changes, so theres another option.
I've still not connected to the internet, but there is some progress. The router now knows that it is connecting in ETHoA (the web GUI tells me), I think setting the ulp to mac did that.
One thing I have noticed is that I edit the user.ini to:
OK. put that line back as it was originally and try it.
** Edit ** Just tried what I suggested in my last post on my test router and nothing was removed not the encaps=llc or anything.
Perhaps you left a space in the command?
What is the broadband light doing? Is it flashing orange then going solid orange? Is it going solid red? Just flashing orange?
Also power cycle the router and paste a copy of the eventlog in this thread. [TroubleShooting] >> [EventLog] in the web interface. I need about the first 90 seconds worth of eventlog. That should tell use what's happening.
Here's mine on a standard non LLU connection just so as you know what I need:

Note: I know it's BE and not 02 but they use the same settings as BE lease their LLU product off 02
You don't need to use bridge mode. Although this caught my eye.
You may have to wait up to 40 minutes before your BeBox gets an internet IP and the internet starts working.
That's down the the MAC address being different. Only thing I can suggest is let it have some time to adapt and connect.
I have now tried each permutation of the settings we have discussed so far and left the router connected to the phone line for a minimum of 40 minutes each time.
Unfortunately my little orange broadband light refuses to turn blue.
Event log posted below. This is with the ETHoA setup.
I have also noticed that in Advanced settings under Broadband, all of the TCP/IP values are given as "Not available". Would this contribute?

Stupid question I know but you are clicking the connect button on the broadband page aren't you?
I see no kind no kind of connection attempt there at all.
It's syncing up fine which means our settings are good.
Many thanks.... I'm looking forward to the time in between now and the stroppy teenager lol..... fingers crossed... my HH2 is packed away as it was too unstable on my current ISP (i tried two
